Do I have to use the new "Upload Your Passport" feature?

Yes, You must upload your passport to continue with your ESTA Application. After successful completion of the photograph, ensure the information populated in the corresponding fields are correct as data entry errors could potentially delay the processing of your ESTA application.

What happens if the image is not successfully processed by ESTA?

The website will indicate that the image is of poor quality. You will need to take a new photo or upload a new passport image with better quality.

What happens when I select “Upload Your Passport”?

If a camera is detected, you will be prompted to select to use the camera on your Android or iOS device.

Take a photograph of the entire biographical page of your passport and ensure that the MRZ is contained across the entire width of the photograph. The image should show the MRZ horizontally. Make sure the photo is not blurred, not too dark, and that the MRZ is legible. If the image is clear, accept it. If not, retake it.

Once the image has been accepted, verify that your information has been filled in correctly.

If no camera is detected, upload an image of your passport bio page. Only png, jpg and jpeg file types are accepted. Make sure the photo is not blurry, too dark and that the MRZ is legible. Once the image has uploaded correctly, verify that your information has been filled in correctly.
